The Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society have completed their review and selection of the winners of the Alberta Junior Athletic Awards, and the Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society Scholarships for this year. The winners are now posted on the website.
This year, we had 44 applications for an Alberta Junior Athletic Award, and 101 applications for a Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society scholarship. There were 10 selections for the AJAA scholarship, and 15 selections for a FAJHS scholarship. The total value of scholarships awarded this year was $44,500.00. This brings the total since the scholarship program was started in 1985 to a total of $1,166,000.00 that has been awarded to individuals who have played junior hockey in Alberta and were attending post-secondary school in Alberta in the year of selection.
The Society is very proud of this accomplishment, and we wish the best to this year’s winners as they continue to strive to achieve a higher education at post-secondary school in Alberta yet continue to participate in a high quality of hockey in the Province of Alberta.
