Scholarships for Alberta Hockey Players
The Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society is a group of people, some formerly involved with the AJHL, or teams in other junior leagues in Alberta , or some with no connection at all to junior hockey. Their main purpose for being involved is to assist with the promotion of junior age hockey players to be able to continue to play hockey at a high level while continuing in their pursuit of a higher education, and to assist them financially in this endeavour.

How do we raise funds to provide financial assistance?
The Friends of Alberta Junior Hockey Society is a registered non profit society, and as a result, we can hold casinos in Alberta as our major fund raiser. We are also a registered non profit group with a charitable foundation registration number, and we can approach corporations or individuals, and offer a tax receipts for any donation made to our scholarship foundation.
It began in 1980
The AJH Scholarship program began as an idea. To establish a scholarship program for Junior A level hockey players to assist them with funds to continue on to higher education.
The program began in early 1980 with the formation of a scholarship committee chaired by then AJHL vice president Bob Russell. He was joined by Ton Haynes and Don McCombie. The three committee members researched various types of post secondary education, talked to other scholarship granting institutions, and reviewed current tuition costs.
